10 Days Uganda Rwanda gorilla safari holiday is a unique tour package that rewards visitors with primates watching adventure, and double gorilla trekking tourist activity.
Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Chimpanzee tracking can also be enjoyed from Rwanda’s Nyungwe forest National park though the best place to have this wonderful activity is Kibale Forest National Park – the east African Capital for chimps tracking.
Your tour guide will pick you up from either a hotel or airport for a long drive to the southwestern part of Rwanda; visiting the Butare palace and mirambi memorial genocide among others. Later proceed with your trip to the dense tropical rainforest reaching in the evening. Dine and rest at Nyungwe forest Lodge/Nyungwe top view lodge/Gisakura hotel.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking
Upon rising, enjoy your breakfast and later head for the park headquarters for pre-tracking briefing on the code of conduct while tracking the chimps through the dense tropical rain forest. Enjoy the wonderful views of the chimps, colobus and velvert monkeys and many other interesting wildlife species dwelling within the forest.
Later, retrieve to the starting point, meet your guide and report at your lodge for refreshments and relations.
If you wish, you may head for the health club at the lodge for relations or return to the forest for a guided forest nature walk / canopy walk
Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Have breakfast and get ready for your transfer to Volcanoes National Park, the base for mountain gorilla trekking in Rwanda. You will get to the park area – Musanze province in the evening. Check in at your lodge; Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (luxury,) Volcanoes Lodge (Super Luxury), Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge / La Palme (Mid-range), Muhabura Hotel (Basic)
Day 4: 1st Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Iby’wacu Cultural Center
Upon rising, enjoy your morning coffee and assemble at the kinigi park offices; have breakfast, registration and briefing on the mountain gorilla trekking guidelines and code of conduct.
Here, you will also be allocated to your specific gorilla family and tracking group of 8 individuals. With your tracking gear’ you will ascend into the thick montane forest in search for the intriguing creatures; this may last between 1 and 8 hours depending on the days’ movement of the gorillas.
Expect an hour with these creatures once located and later retrieve to the starting point, meet your guide for your return to hotel. Later in the evening, engage in a Iby’wacu Cultural Visit.
Retire at your lodge for dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (luxury,) Volcanoes Lodge (Super Luxury), Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge / La Palme (Mid-range), Muhabura Hotel (Basic)
Day 5: Golden Monkey Tracking and Transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park
Enjoy your morning coffee and retrieve the Kinigi park offices for briefing on the code of conduct when tracking golden monkeys. Embark on your adventurous search for the shy creatures not ignoring the other wildlife species like the elephants, baboons etc. Golden monkeys cannot be missed due to their mass concentration within the forest. Later return to the starting point, meet your guide and retrieve your lodge for lunch and refreshments. In the afternoon, get ready for your transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable forest Nationalpark-the Ugandan home to mountain gorillas. Dinner and overnight stay at Ruhija Lodge (luxury)/ Gorilla Mist Camp /Deluxe)/ Bakiga Lodge (Budget).
Day 6: 2nd Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Pygmies
After breakfast, assemble at the park offices for pre – tracking briefing on the mountain gorilla tracking guidelines. With your tracking gear, engage in the gorilla search; once found, have an hour with the intriguing creatures, taking photographs and making videos. Time spent looking for these creatures may last between 3o minutes to 8 hours depending on their movement as they search for food, water and new shelter. Later, retrieve the starting point, return to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, heady out for a community walk to the Batwa pygmies- an indigenous local population that dwelled the Bwindi forest before driven out by the conservation program. Dine and rest at. Gorilla Safari Lodge (Luxury)/ Gorilla Mist Camp (Mid range)/Wagtail Eco-Camp (Budget).
Day 7: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After morning breakfast, with your tour guide, hit the road for Queen Elizabeth National Park. En route pass through the Ishasha sector looking out for the unique tree climbing lions driving through the park area arriving at the park premises just in time for lunch. After lunch embark on an amazing boat cruise to
an amazing boat cruise over the Kazinga channel taking in clear sights of hippos, crocodiles, elephants and various bird species for the birders. Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya Safari Lodge (luxury)/ Enganzi lodge (mid range)/Kingfisher Lodge (Budget).
Day 8: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
Have early breakfast and engage in a morning game drive to the kasenyi area viewing the various wildlife and bird species like lions, elephants, giraffe saddle bill stork, and woodland kingfishers among others. Later, after lunch, set off for Kibale Forest National Park a renowned home to 13 primate species .Dine and rest at Ndali Lodge / Kyaninga Lodge (luxury) /Chimpanzee guest house(Deluxe).
Day 9:Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Swamp
Upon rising, enjoy your breakfast and assemble at the Kanyachu park offices for morning briefing on the chimpanzee tracking code of conduct. Unlike mountain gorillas, chimpanzees live in large family groups and once found ,expect an hour interacting with them watching out for other interesting wildlife species like Varvet Monkey, L’hoest, Blue Monkey, Red-Tailed Monkey, Grey Cheeked Mangabey, Black And White Colobus Monkey among others. Enjoy lunch and head out for a guided nature walk to Bigodi swamp for an exclusive birding experience. Dinner and overnight Kyaninga Lodge / Crater Lodge Kibale / Mountains of the Moon.
Day 10: Return to Kampala and Departure
Have breakfast at leisure and hit the road for your return trip to Kampala for a drop off either at a hotel or airport for departure
